Who IS Jesus Christ?
Let’s examine the Scriptures to determine what they have to say about who Jesus Christ is: First, God Says his Name Is “I AM” "Then Moses said to God, 'Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them,`The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, `What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?’ And God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ And he said, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, `I AM has sent me to you. THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER, and this is my memorial to all generations.'” Exodus 3:13-15 Centuries later, in the New Testament, Jesus made claim to being “I AM.” Jesus said, “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day, and he saw it and was glad.’ Then the Jews said to him, ‘You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?’ Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS, I AM.’ Then they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.” John 8:56-59 They took up stones to stone him because they understood very well that he was stating that he is God. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Jesus identifies himself to the woman at Samaria “The woman said to him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming, who is called Christ. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, WHICH IS CHRIST THE LORD.’" Luke 2:10-11 “For unto us a CHILD is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called: Wonderful, Counselor, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, Prince of Peace.” The CHILD is the MIGHTY GOD ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Jesus, the speaker in the following passage in the Book of Revelation, identifies himself as God: “And behold, I come quickly and my reward is with me, to give to every man according as his work shall be. He bore the judgment due us on our sin, IN OUR PLACE. All who receive him and the atonement he made for us, receive the forgiveness of sins and will live forever in the heaven he has prepared for them. Turn to him and receive salvation for both now and forever.
