Which Voices Are You Listening To?

"Whoever comes to me, and hears my sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock." Luke 6:47-48 We live in a world where there are many voices feeding into our minds daily. We are given the free choice of whom we listen to. I used to be confounded when hearing the views of "the left," the so-called "liberals," because I just could not fathom how they came to the conclusions they came to. After pondering this for a very long time, I came to realize that our attitudes, our beliefs, and our world-view are determined in great part by whom we listen to. I don't listen to the mainstream media because I know it is backed by the globalist agenda, but from time to time I will come across an item from one of them and I just can't believe what I'm reading, and then it becomes clear to me that people who feed on this deceptive input daily are of course going to come under the deception it's meant to lead them to. In the passage quoted above, Jesus spoke about the choice we make of the voice we listen to. He said that if a person listens to HIM, and builds his life upon the rock which is Christ, then when the storms come - and they surely will - the person will endure and not be overthrown. On the other hand, he who fashions his life according to the principles of the world - this one will not remain in the faith when the storms come upon him. vs 49: "But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.” Yes ...and the ruin of that house was great. This is the person who is so disillusioned by life that he or she will turn to alcohol or drugs to drive away the pain and frustrations they feel. Or they'll get into illicit relationships, or pornography, trying to satisfy that which cannot be satisfied this way. He'll end up empty, never satisfied, his life having missed the purpose God had for him. Friends, we cannot have it both ways. We are either of the world or of the Kingdom of God, and the Scriptures tell us that they are totally opposite in their foundations. Upon what we feed, that's what we will become. "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made FOOLISH the wisdom of this world?" 1st Corinthians 1:19-20 We're only here for a comparably short time. 70 or 80 years more or less - is a grain of sand compared to eternity. Make the right choices now, because the choices you make now will determine your eternity.
