What Does 'Narrow' Mean?

"To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? Indeed their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot give heed. Behold, the Word of the Lord is a reproach to them; they have no delight in it." Jeremiah 6:10 The Word of the Lord is a reproach to them... Have you ever wondered WHY the liberals and many people on "the left" stand against morality? The answer is stated right here. "They CANNOT give heed." "For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.’" Matthew 13:15 It's not a matter of choice, they made their choices long ago; and when people form their choice against the Word of God then their hearts are closed and they come under DELUSION and a debased mind - which to a believer is so obvious. "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind..." Romans 1:28 The Gospel of the Kingdom of God has been preached throughout the world. Man has no excuse. Jesus said that the way to destruction is broad and that the many go that way, but the way to eternal life is narrow and only a few find it (Matthew 7:13-14). A very important point should be clarified here. When the Lord says the way is narrow, he is not saying that the way to salvation is a narrow adherence to the law. No one can fulfill the requirements of the law (Romans 7:14-15). No, what is narrow is that there is only ONE way and that is through him. There are not several ways to God, there is only one, and that's what's narrow about it. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father EXCEPT THROUGH ME.'" John 14:6 When people make the choice to be "liberal" and spurn the Word of God or twist it to justify themselves, they seal their own doom. When a person comes under delusion, he no longer CAN see, he no longer CAN hear, and he goes the broad way. That is why there's such a battle between born-again believers versus the people in "the world." It's an impossible impasse. They CANNOT see or hear, and imposing righteous laws upon them will only enrage them. What then can be done? The only answer is intercession, fasting and prayer for them, because only the Spirit of God can pierce through their hard hearts, and that will happen only through the intercession of God's people. Pray, and when you've prayed, pray some more, and include fasting because the Lord has told us that some cases cannot be rectified except through fasting and prayer (Matthew 17:21). Just don't ever give up, continue the battle in prayer and fasting, because: "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man AVAILS MUCH." James 5:16 MORE: Who Is God?
