We Must Have The Faith Of A Child
"At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, 'who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?' Then Jesus called a little child to him, set him in the midst of them, and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted AND BECOME AS LITTLE CHILDREN, you will by no means ENTER the Kingdom of heaven.'" Matthew 18:1-3 A very profound concept. Doesn't man always strive to be greater? To become the expert? To reach the place of power? To be looked up to by all? In God's economy, those are the things that can bring a man down. We are to come to the Lord as children come to their father. A little child has no agenda, he follows his father with all his heart. Whatever his father says, he believes. Whatever his father does is right in his eyes whether he understands it or not. He doesn't try to influence or control his father because in his eyes his father knows all and he trusts him implicitly. What are you after? Your career? Your name? What you can do for God? How powerful you aspire to be in the Kingdom? If that is your mindset, then you have placed yourself as lord. We don't lead God, he leads us. If he asks you to do the most menial thing, you do it - humbly - because you love your Father and all you want to do is please him. You know that to please him, you have to simply put everything in his hands and follow. Not lead, follow. Anyone who has such a heart will be honored, cherished, and led by the foresight and power of almighty God. The results will be not your results, but his results worked out through you. And that will be glorious. "For we are HIS workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which GOD PREPARED BEFOREHAND that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 This was Jesus's attitude before the Father, the attitude he desires in us. Look how it worked in his ministry. He humbled himself, and look what it produced. "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, BUT MADE HIMSELF OF NO REPUTATION, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the Cross. THEREFORE: God also has highly exalted him and given him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:5-11 The way to glory is through the submission of the heart. The Father only wants good for the son or daughter, and surrendering one's heart totally to him as a little child will open the way for the Father to bring to him his highest good. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 But it can only be worked out in someone who totally surrenders his life to the Lord, so that the working out of it will be HIS, not ours. That can only happen when one comes before him ...as a little child.
