Question Whether You Have Been Born Again
"And he came down with them
and stood on a level place with a crowd
of his disciples and a great multitude of people
from all Judea and Jerusalem,
and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon
who came to hear him
and be healed of their diseases,
as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits.
And they were healed."
Luke 6:17-18
Jesus Christ has to be more to you than salvation from hell. He has to be more to you than a "religion," there are many of those.
The Gospel is not a philosophy. There are plenty of philosophies in the world, and plenty of religions that teach charity and goodness. The thing that makes Christianity different from all other religions is that by it the supernatural power of God will change a person forever.
Every born-again person has a testimony of how the Gospel changed them. Some are healed of their diseases, some are delivered from tormenting spirits, eyes are opened to see what they never saw before, all are changed in one way or another and in such a way that no other religion or philosophy has the power to deliver.
"And my speech and my preaching were not
with persuasive words of human wisdom,
but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men
but in the power of God."
1 Corinthians 2:4-5
"For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power."
1 Corinthians 4:20
If you have not been impacted by the power of God, then perhaps you might question whether you are born again. If you do not have a testimony, then you should question whether you are born again. If you have believed only in a provision making you able to escape hell, and if that's all the Gospel has been to you, then question whether you are born again.
If you question it and find you have not, then what is the solution?
The solution is to have an encounter with Jesus Christ.
Approach him in true humility. Put your pride down, stamp on it, and present yourself before him in true and honest humility. Confess to him that you're not sure where you stand with him. Ask him for an assurance of your salvation. Be willing to totally surrender your entire life, your entire self, to his Lordship. In other words, you come down from your pedestal as lord of your life, and you ask HIM to become the Lord of your life. You can't be the pilot with him as co-pilot. He will not be demoted to second place.
If you pray this way with all of your heart, he will respond to you. He will save you. He will give you a testimony. He will CHANGE your life forever.
There is no such thing as a saved person who has no testimony. The religion of a person that leaves him/her with no testimony is just another philosophy. It is useless. It is in vain. It is a substitute for the real thing.
Open the Word of God, the Bible, and take in the Word of God every single day of your life, for it is the nourishment for your spirit which you must ingest daily. Don't nourish your body more than you nourish your spirit.
Jesus Christ is the living Word, the alpha and the omega, the alef and the tav, the A and the Z, the beginning and the end, he is all in all. His Word will change you because his Word is the power of God. You cannot survive spiritually without it. Seek him until you find him.
"And you will seek me and find me,
when you search for me with all your heart."
Jeremiah 29:13
