How Shall I Finish Out The Year?
What is your desire...? "The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish, but he casts away the desire of the wicked." Proverbs 10:3 "...he casts away the DESIRE of the wicked." There is no gain in wickedness, because in their striving the wicked are striving against God and cannot prevail. Whatever their motive, their goal, the desire they are pursuing, they will not find happiness there because the Lord "casts away the DESIRE of the wicked." They will seem to prosper but in the end, even if they succeeded in their pursuit they will find that they never achieved the happiness they thought the object of their desire would bring them. For believers on the other hand, God will grant them the desires of their heart if they will remain patiently trusting in his faithfulness. "Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity, for they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed. Delight yourself also in the Lord, AND HE SHALL GIVE YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART." Psalm 37:1-4 Though the wicked acquires all that he wants, he has no peace. His mind is always on his riches, how to preserve them and how to add to them. It's an obsession, his whole life is spent obsessing over his wealth or his status in society. How sad. On the other hand, the one who delights himself in the Lord and waits patiently for him, this is the one who will receive from the Lord the desires of his heart. In fact, the Lord will go before him and bring good to him that he hadn't even thought of. One who delights in the Lord is one over whom the Lord delights. I would rather have the delight in the Lord than all the riches in the world, because all that is good, all that is joy, all that is true happiness, is found only in him. I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold; I’d rather be his than have riches untold; I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands; I’d rather be led by his nail-pierced hand Than to be the king of a vast domain and be held in sin’s dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today. I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause; I’d rather be faithful to his dear cause; I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame; I’d rather be true to his holy Name. ...Than to be the king of a vast domain ...and be held in sin’s dread sway; ...I’d rather have Jesus than anything ...this world affords today. I MUST have Jesus!
